For the first time in 5 years, I took 3 weeks off from blogging. I wish I could say it was on purpose but summer took over and time slipped away from me…… and I thoroughly enjoyed it! In small moments of stolen time, I did projects just for the pure pleasure of it.
I embroidered my clothes. This is my old jean skirt. New to me now, though! I had so much fun just being spontaneous and experimenting. Hard to say how long I spent. I wish I recorded how long this took but I did it over the course of 2 weeks whenever I could find a couple of free hours.
A rose in variegated thread. The serendipity font I found online. I used a white sakura gel pen to sketch it onto the denim then sewed over the sketch switching colors each time I ran out of thread.
“Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it” - Roald Dahl. I used some sparkly thread and my own messy script handwriting for this one.
This was a from a painting I made. A potential future pattern.

Then I bought a pair of denim shorts and started on those.
The bee took at least 8 hours. I finished the rest over the course of 2 weeks.

I’ve also been graffiti-ing my walls. They are dirty and the whole house would benefit from a re-paint job. It is the perfect opportunity to go a little crazy and make the house my palette.
I sit down when I have some spare time and keep adding to it. I guess I’ll stop when I run out of room.
Next I attacked a hutch I had been wanting to re-paint for a long time. I thought it would only take me a weekend but it always takes longer than you think it will, ya know? I’m still putting finishing touches on it. Mom and Aunt Jean - recognize this? HaHa
I spend my mornings exploring and poking around my tiny garden in the backyard. I sprinkled a wildflower mix, crossed my fingers, and hoped for the best.
Much to my delight, new surprises spring up every day.

Every color in the rainbow. I make small bouquets to bring in the house to paint and they live FOREVER. Amazing how a 2 dollar pack of seeds and a little soil can bring infinite amounts of joy to me.
I could see all of these as paintings and delicate little embroideries.
Isn’t that just adorable? Tiny red hearts in the middle of the pinkest flower. Little miracles.
The veggies are LATE!!! After a very unseasonably cool and rainy start to the summer our veggies are taking FOREVER. I am willing them to grow. I am dying to eat these fresh from the garden and still warm from the sun. Patience, patience.
Spaghetti squash takes until fall. If I can get to it before the critters do!!!
I hope you are all enjoying your summer for those of you in the season. I plan on coming back gangbusters in the fall. My goal to create complete embroidery kits to sell. I sell digital patterns but I would love to sell complete kits for beginners. Would love to hear your thoughts on this or any patterns you would like to see.
