Leap days are so strange aren't they? There are actually 366 days in a leap year! SCORE!! We just got a whole extra day of livin and lovin!!! Pretty Awesome!!!
Apparently, the reason these exist is to keep our calendar running smoothly and in alignment with the seasons. According to Timeanddate.com, "It takes the earth 365.242189 days or 365 days, five hours, 48 minutes, and 45 seconds to circle once around the sun. Without an extra day on February 29th nearly every four years we would lose almost 6 hours every year." Our seasons would start to slip. Such a truly strange and wonderful concept.
